President, Founder

Geoffrey Gordon

Over the past 25 years, Geoff has built a strong track record for successfully commercializing new technologies as co-founder and R&D leader of several small businesses. Throughout that time, he has remained closely connected to hands-on technology development, focusing in the areas of clinical research informatics and healthcare informatics. Recently, in addition to co-founding Commonwealth, Geoff has served as the lead software developer for PVDAS (Pharmacovigilance Defense Application System), a data mining and analysis system in production use at the U.S. Army’s Pharmacovigilance Center for gleaning new knowledge from military health system electronic medical records and health insurance claims.
Chief Information Officer

Richard Schaaf

Rich has more than 30 years’ experience in the design, development and validation of major software and database systems. At Commonwealth Informatics, Rich has contributed to a number of areas. He currently oversees the IT department as Commonwealth’s CIO and is also providing technical leadership in shaping the Commonwealth Vigilance Workbench (CVW) information architecture. Prior to becoming CIO, as Senior VP of Technology and Operations, Rich led the development team for several of the CVW software modules and also led Commonwealth’s SaaS services team. Before joining Commonwealth Informatics, Rich led the group within Oracle’s Health Science Global Business Unit that is responsible for Oracle’s Empirica suite of solutions for adverse event reporting; clinical trial data checking; and safety data mining, signal detection and signal management.
Senior Vice President Safety Solutions

Bill Blackwell

Bill has been delivering software tools that help regulators and industry make informed decisions about medical product safety for more than 30 years. In his current role at Commonwealth Informatics he leads our work to define the next generation of signal management software in the form of the Commonwealth Vigilance Workbench. The Workbench integrates signal detection results from multiple sources and supports safety evaluators in efficiently reviewing statistical alerts, assessing signals, documenting the scientific evaluation, and tracking the work performed. Prior to Commonwealth Informatics, Bill held a series of director-level positions at Lincoln Technologies, Phase Forward, and Oracle contributing to the success of several pioneering systems for pharmacovigilance.
Vice President Healthcare Services

Bob Zambarano

Bob has been with Commonwealth for nearly 10 years, and has over thirty years of professional experience working with data management and data analysis software systems, primarily in life sciences research settings. He has extensive hands-on technical skills, including systems specification, design, development, implementation, configuration and management, as well as extensive project management experience. At Commonwealth Informatics, Bob oversees Public Health informatics projects involving CII proprietary and bespoke software systems as well as a number of open source products include ESPHealth and EpiTrax.

Vasu Digumarthi

Vasu has extensive experience in building quality systems and streamlining operations and processes. In addition, she brings a wealth of experience in development, services, support and consulting in life sciences and healthcare technologies. Prior to Commonwealth Informatics, Vasu held positions at PAREXEL, Phase Forward, and Oracle working in software products and solutions for clinical trials, adverse event reporting, clinical trial data checking, clinical and healthcare data analysis, and pharmacovigilance. At Commonwealth, Vasu provides strategic direction to all quality initiatives and provides strategic input to Commonwealth’s product development and works with teams across our organization to establish optimized plans, processes and tools to align functional areas and achieve desired results. She holds the responsibility for delivery of Services and Solutions to our clients, Quality, Compliance and Information Security.

CUSTOMER SUCCESS OFFICER

Simon Brooks

Simon carries a valuable combination of pharma industry IT and startup software vendor experience. His background includes many years in Pharma IT, including managing teams at GSK and building the IT function at Indivior. He was the early design lead on the Argus Clinical Safety suite of products for Relsys (but now owned by Oracle) and has additionally held positions at My Meds & Me as CTO, Oracle as Product Champion, and at IQVIA. At Commonwealth, Simon holds the responsibility for overall Customer Success. He works closely with Product Management and Product Development ensuring that customer success is central to our planning and operations as well as our service delivery.
